Retail Split Schedules
Traditional neighborhood shops in Athens close on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday afternoons by 15:00. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, they close for an afternoon break before reopening around 17:30.
Late Evening Dining Culture
Athenians dine late, especially in summer. While lunch runs from 13:00 to 16:00, tavernas and fine dining places fill up after 21:00 and stay lively past midnight.
Bank Counter Hours
Bank branches operate strict early afternoon closures. Most in-person teller transactions must be completed by 14:30 on weekdays or 14:00 on Fridays.
Government Appointments and KEP
Standard government counters operate 08:00 to 14:00 on weekdays. For civic services outside core hours, municipal KEP centres offer extended weekday and Saturday morning access.
