Overview

1. Introduction & Core Principles

ClockHorizon ("we," "our," or "us") provides online timekeeping, clock, timer, stopwatch, alarm, time zone conversion, market schedule, holiday calendar, and weather tools through clockhorizon.com. We believe useful utility tools should respect user privacy. Our default architecture is local-first: calculations, timers, alarms, and interface preferences operate directly in your web browser.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit ClockHorizon, how that information is used, how third-party advertising and analytics services operate on the site, and your rights and options regarding your personal data.

Data Collection

2. Information We Collect & How It Is Used

We collect minimal information necessary to deliver accurate time tools, prevent abuse, and maintain site performance:

Estimated City & Optional Device Location: To display local time, weather, and nearby time zones without requiring manual setup, ClockHorizon may use third-party IP-geolocation services to estimate your general city, region, or time zone. On the Local Weather page, you can optionally allow your browser to provide device coordinates for a more accurate result. If you previously granted ClockHorizon location permission, that page may use the permission without displaying another prompt. For this feature, the coordinates are compared with ClockHorizon's city catalog in your browser; the raw coordinates are not stored in local storage or sent to ClockHorizon's servers. You can revoke location access through your browser or device settings.

Client-Side Preferences: Settings such as your preferred color theme (dark or light mode), time display format (12-hour AM/PM or 24-hour military format), alarm tones, volume levels, pinned cities, and the nearest resolved weather city may be saved locally on your device using HTML5 Web Storage (localStorage). This data stays on your machine during ordinary signed-out browsing. Signed-in Forex session alerts have an encrypted account copy as described below.

Contact Form Communications: When you send a message through our Support & Help Center, we collect your name, email address, topic, and message content solely to reply to your inquiry. We do not sell or share contact details with third-party marketing brokers.

Technical Server Logs: Like virtually all web services, our web servers log standard HTTP requests (such as your IP address, browser user-agent, operating system, requested URL, date/time stamp, and referring URL) to monitor uptime, diagnose crashes, and protect against denial-of-service attacks.

Advertising Disclosures

3. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Disclosures

To keep ClockHorizon free and publicly accessible without subscription fees, we display advertisements provided by Google AdSense and third-party advertising networks. In accordance with Google Publisher Policies, please review the following required disclosures:

Third-Party Vendor Cookies: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites on the Internet.

Google Advertising Cookies: Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to ClockHorizon and/or other sites across the World Wide Web.

Personalized Advertising Opt-Out: Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or the Your Online Choices portal for European visitors.

Consent in the EEA & UK: For visitors located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland, we comply with the Google EU User Consent Policy. You are presented with a Consent Management Platform (CMP) dialog that lets you customize your consent choices for advertising cookies and personalized ad targeting.

Analytics & Security

4. Analytics, Cookies & Verification Services

We employ trusted third-party technologies to ensure site security, verify human interactions, and understand general site usage trends:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4): We use Google Analytics (property ID G-WS2T5BSZVG) to analyze anonymous, aggregated metrics such as page views, visitor regions, session durations, and popular tools. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to collect this information. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

CaveInsights Telemetry: This client telemetry integration is currently disabled. We are not loading its tracking script or sending its client analytics data.

Cloudflare Turnstile: Our contact and support form is protected against automated spam and malicious abuse by Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile evaluates browser signals without presenting difficult visual puzzles, verifying that submissions originate from legitimate human users.

Data Security

5. Encrypted Alarm Storage & Device Synchronization

When you are signed in, Forex session alerts are saved in your browser and an encrypted copy is stored in your account's database record. Signed-out Forex alerts stay in that browser. Other alarms, timers, and profile settings are not part of this account alarm backup yet.

The stored alert copy is encrypted in your browser with a key kept in that browser. The database stores ciphertext, an initialization vector, and account ownership metadata. The live website can process alert details while you use the page. Signing in on a new browser does not yet restore alerts there; secure device linking is required before that browser can decrypt the stored copy.

You have full control over cookie storage. Most web browsers allow you to view, manage, delete, and block cookies through their settings:

You can configure your browser to reject all cookies or alert you when a cookie is placed. Note that disabling essential functional storage may reset your chosen theme (dark/light mode) or time format (12h/24h) between visits, as those preferences rely on local storage.

7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA & Global Rights)

Right of Access & Portability: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we maintain about you.

Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. All ClockHorizon core clock, timer, and time zone utilities remain completely free and accessible.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: ClockHorizon does not sell your personal information or contact details for monetary consideration.

Children

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

ClockHorizon is designed as a general-audience educational and utility tool for people of all ages to learn about world time zones, schedule focus intervals, and track international holidays. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Union). If you believe a child has submitted personal details through our contact form, please contact us immediately, and we will delete the record promptly.
